Our Green Belt Protest March

  • Sunday 4th October, 11:30 AM

  • Start: Goffs Oak War Memorial

  • Finish: Cuffley Community Centre

  • Cost: Free (participants are encouraged to bring family, friends, and banners)

  • Refreshments will be available

Organised by local groups including GOCA, Jones Road Action Group and Cuffley & Northaw Residents, please join this community March to object to the destruction of our shared green belt.

New proposed housing developments in Goffs Oak have been widely publicised, and include 225 homes on farmland at Jones Road (near the junction with Broadfields), 100 new homes to the west of Burton Lane and also 50 on St James Road. Only recently we were advised of a proposal for a further 400 new homes off Newgatestreet Road on prime green belt farmland. The cumulative impact is around 775 new houses in the Goffs Oak area (plus 80-90 already approved for Laurel Park).

Understandably GOCA members and residents are raising their concerns over severe pressures on local infrastructure, including overstretched NHS services, schools, and public transport, as well as opposing government grey belt planning guidelines.

PLEASE HELP US MAKE A DIFFERENCE AND JOIN THE MARCH ON 4th OCTOBER

There will be an opportunity to sign the Parliamentary Petition that calls for the removal of grey belt planning guidelines, recently introduced by Central Government. You can also sign the petition at https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/766093

Warning to keep the fire in the BBQ!

We have recently been made aware of a garden fire just off Newgatestreet Road. A BBQ caused trees to catch fire which was dealt with by the Fire Brigade. Fortunately, the fire did not spread to the ad
